Scripture thoughts and questions. Not a sermon. Lately I've been preaching out of passages from the lectionary. Reading it over, I saw this selection from Paul's letter to the Philippians. Here's part of that selection. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him … Continue reading Scary Topics: Death
Who’s Got the Power?
Do you feel confident and powerful each day? On September 11, 2001, Americans felt vulnerable and afraid. In a sense, terrorist completed their objective. Instill fear in their enemies and erode trust. It was a day where people of great courage stood up against the evil that claimed near 3,000 lives. Playing by the Rules
Have you ever played a game, but you didn't know the rules? How did you learn them? Did you sit down and have a big seminar? Trial and error? Or maybe someone guided your learning process. To act justly and … Continue reading The Hope of the Remnant
Consequences of Indifference
Have you ever seen someone being attacked, their home being broken into...and done nothing? Could you imagine doing nothing if it was your relative's home? The Book of Obadiah laws down the consequences for Edom (descendents of Esau's) indifference when Jacob (Israel) was in need. It serves as a warning for us today.
Signs of Prophet Ability
Notes before Listening or Reading this message. This message is mainly a guide through how we can determine, through scripture, if a prophet is from God or not.
