Proverbs 8 – Wisdom and wealth

Choose my instruction instead of silver,
    knowledge rather than choice gold,
for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Proverbs 8:10-11 NIV

“I wish I had a million dollars!” Have you ever said this phrase before? Heard someone else say it? The pessimist in me thinks, “but after you get that money, taxes take about half!” Optimists think, “at least I have half a million dollars!” But what is all that money worth if you can’t be wise with it? We usually spend it on frivolous things.

It’s actually counterintuitive but, shiny jewels and cash money aren’t worth anywhere near how much true wisdom is worth in the long run. And besides, you’d need that wisdom to handle any finances that come your way.
