“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”— when you already have it with you.”
Proverbs 3:27-28 NIV
When I read this, I think about compliments and affirming words. “I ought to tell her I think she’s doing a great job…” “I ought to thank his for being there when I needed someone to talk to.” Returning a cup of sugar you “borrowed” from a neighbor is polite and fine. But if you have words of appreciation for someone, don’t let too moments go by without dishing out praise and thanks. You never know how much they need that.
